Virtually unobtainable for many years, this facsimile of the 1950 edition with a new forward by Maureen Duke, is a welcome reissue of one of the standard books on the craft of bookbinding. It deals in great detail with what used to be called the 'letterpress and stationery' branches of the trade and includes sections on finishing and design.

The book is divided into two halves; letterpress, and stationery binding. It is the second half, and in particular the section on springback binding, that I have found most useful. It is aimed at the trade side of binding and is of its time, but is clearly written and has excellent diagrams. This is one of my 'go to' books.
