Description Instructions or Information

These grade III Chieftain Goats are aimed at the amateur market. The raw skins originate from India and the surrounding areas. The skins have a natural shrunken grain, similar to traditional Levant grain, with a natural polished finish. This leather is retanned with the addition of aluminium salts in order to produce an archival tannage with outstanding durability. The leather is aniline dyed and has a semi-transparent finish.

Please note that colours 3, 6, 9 and 15 are not dyed-through.

You can see examples of our Chieftain Goat on the following finished books: Of A Feather, Antarctica, Soul Traders, The Ryder Cup, Dragon Book, Carte Topographique de L'Egypte, Vita Nuova, Psalms, Trading Eights, The Faces of Jazz, The Transylvania Florilegium, Papermaker's Tears, 1850's Concertina, Lost on the Titanic and The Magus that are featured in the Showcase area of our web site.

Ordered a piece of leather for a family member that is in to bookbinding. I was very satisfied with customer service interaction and prompt responses to inquiries. The product was packaged well and appeared to my untrained eye to be flawless. Would order here again.

I use the leather to make baffles for my duet concertinas and I find it to be excellent for this purpose
